What Should You Know About COVID-19 Virus

Mar 24, 2022

The Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, which began in December 2019, presents a huge challenge to global health. Based on its assessment, WHO considers the current COVID-19 outbreak to be a pandemic. So, as a human, do you know what COVID-19 is and how to protect yourself?

What is a coronavirus?

COVID-19 is a new variant of a very common family of viruses called coronaviruses that can cause respiratory infections, from the common cold to more serious illnesses like severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). Although coronavirusare most commonly found in animals such as cattle, cats and bats, in some cases coronaviruscan spread from person to person and spread, such as SARS, which sickened nearly 8,000 people during an outbreak in 2003.

How does it spread?

Coronavirus is most likely spread by coughing, sneezing, close contact (such as touching or shaking hands) or touching infected surfaces and then touching your eyes, nose or mouth without washing your hands, the CDC notes. In short, it spreads like the flu.

What are the symptoms?

Those infected with the current COVID-19 coronavirus have experienced a range of symptoms from mild to severe respiratory illness. Most reported fever, cough, shortness of breath, and in some cases pneumonia and lung inflammation. The incubation period ranges from 1 to 14 days, with most being 3/7 days.

People who are at risk and should be tested for coronavirus are people with any of the following symptoms:

  1. Fever and sore throat

  2. Cough and shortness of breath

  3. Nasal congestion causes a runny nose

  4. Diarrhea

How to protect yourself?

The CDC and the World Health Organization (WHO) recommend practicing good hygiene in the same way to protect yourself from the flu:

Buy a ticket to regularly wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and if soap and water aren't available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer

Unconsciously avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth without washing your hands

Buy a way to avoid being in close contact with someone who's sick

Spending time at home when you're sick, anyway

Buying a ticket covers a cough or sneeze with a tissue, and throws it in the bin

Buy a ticket to clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces

With the development and progress of medical science and technology, vaccines for COVID-19 have been developed everywhere, and more and more people believe in vaccines and are being vaccinated. However, the prevention and control of the epidemic is still something that people around the world cannot relax. We believe that one day this virus will be defeated!
