How to Make a Corner Bookmark
Bookmarks are a great way to mark your location in a book. However, they can get expensive, and the standard rectangular shape can get pretty boring. Why not make your own bookmarks? Using a square piece of paper, and in a few minutes, you can make a neat triangular bookmark that fits right into the corner of the page. If you're not comfortable with origami, there are other ways to make bookmarks!
Please take a square sticky note. Fold the paper in half diagonally to make a triangle. Take one of the corners and fold it towards the opposite corner. Run your fingernail along the crease to make it nice and sharp.
Turn the triangle so that it is upright. The straight folded edge should face you. The tip should face away from you.
Fold one of the prongs down to the bottom fold. You will notice that your triangle has two layers of paper. You only fold one of the layers. When you're done folding, your paper should still be triangular, but with a smaller inverted triangle inside. This will create a "pocket" for your bookmarks.
Fold the bottom corner of the triangle up to the vertex. Take the bottom left corner and fold it over the top of the triangle. Make sure the edges line up, then use your fingernail to sharpen along the crease. Repeat this step for the other side. You will end up with a diamond shape.
Fold the two corners down to the inside of the triangle. Take the first corner you just folded and fold it halfway inside the triangle. Be sure to tuck it under the "pocket". Repeat this step for the other corner.
Decorate bookmarks if desired. You can decorate it with stickers or even draw a face on it to make it look like a monster chewing in the corner of your page. You use different colors to imitate different animals.
If desired, allow bookmarks to dry before use. If you just decorate your bookmarks with stickers, then you're good to go. However, if you're using a pen or marker to decorate it, you may want to let it dry a bit so the wet ink doesn't transfer to your book.
